CARING FOR YOUR CANDLES

Candle Care Tips

It is our hope you love our candles as much as we love making them!

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you get the most enjoyment out of your candle in safely manner.

  • Do not extinguish the flame until the entire wax surface pool has melted evenly. Soy wax has a "memory", meaning it will melt only to the edge of where it was extinguished the last time it was burned. We recommend the first time you light your candle, to burn it for a few hours until the entire top is liquid wax - all the way to the edges of the glass. That way, the candle will burn cleanly down the sides of the glass instead of tunneling down the middle.

  • Please do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This is very important as this will prevent your candle from tunneling and will prolong the life of your candle.

  • Follow the half inch rule. Discontinue use of a candle when ½” (1.27 cm) of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. This will prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or container itself.

  • Room temperature/atmosphere variation may affect each candle's burn time.  Once the wick forms a long mushroom like shape, extinguish the candle, let it cool and gently remove the tip. Keep wax pool free from excess wick and other debris at all times. Extinguish candle carefully, let it cool completely before touching or moving. We recommend using a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle. Never use water as it can cause wax to splatter or glass to break.

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Wick Care

  • Our custom-made wicks are a unique combination of strong and reliable cotton pressed with wooden wicks that provide a gentle and relaxing crackle to your atmosphere. Trim your candle wick using scissors or a wick trimmer to 1/4 inch (63-65 mm) before every time you light your candle and remove all trimmings before the next use.

  • Do not cut the wicks short. This will extend the life of your candle, help maintain the integrity of the hybrid wick and will prevent the flame from smoking. It is completely normal for the wick to appear as if the two wicks are separating when the candle is burning. Simply trim the wick before each use to help the wick perform properly.

  • If your candle flame is smoking, check the height of your wick and remove from drafty areas. If there is soot build-up on the glass of your candle, you may wipe it clean with a damp cloth once the candle is extinguished and completely cool.

Fragrance Tips

  • Our senses are designed to naturally acclimate to our surroundings, so you may notice that if you stay in the same room as your candle for an extended period of time, you will stop smelling your candle as strongly. This is completely normal. Simply step out of the room for a few minutes and return. You will notice that the scent is stronger than you noticed before.

  • Also, the diameter of the candle affects the size of the room that can be fragranced. For a more sizable room, choose a candle with a wider diameter that creates a larger melt pool. You may also burn multiple candles in the same room to intensify the fragrance.

  • Our candles get stronger as they age, which means that if you received a freshly-poured candle, the fragrance will get stronger in 1-2 weeks as it cures.

  • Maximize your scent throw. Open windows and doors will disperse scent and lessen the concentration. For maximum fragrance keep windows and doors closed and burn in desired space for 30 mins before entering.

Did you know?

'Pull away' is a term used to describe what looks like air bubbles in glass-vessel candles. After the hot wax has been poured into a vessel and cools down, it will slightly shrink, which can cause the wax to pull away very slightly from the vessel wall. This gap is no larger than a hair, but the glass can act as a magnifier, creating the illusion of an air bubble. Following cooling, the vessel's heat is applied to the top of each candle to create an impeccably smooth surface and minimize some of the pull away. However, there's no need to worry about this, as once you light your candle and it warms back up, these bubbles will start to disappear and will not affect your candle’s diffusion and lifespan.
